Gift Ideas for Father’s Day 2008

Father’s Day is not an invention of the greeting card industry, contrary to what some people might think. In North America, Father’s Day was inaugurated in the early twentieth century because Mother’s Day was celebrated. Fathers throughout the land felt left out and wanted equal treatment. Imagine that men actually felt discriminated against so long ago. The battle of the sexes had already started.

Dads wanted a day to call their own. They also wanted to receive gifts from their children and more importantly to feel appreciated. The first Father’s Day was held on July 5, 1908 in a little town in West Virginia. The idea caught fire, but the date was moved back a month. Today, millions of people celebrate Father’s Day. This year Father’s Day is Sunday June 15. Check out my ideas for Father’s Day Gifts this year in my article Fathers Day Gift Ideas for the Dad Who Has Everything.
